Young Australians are not giving up on work, despite high unemployment

Employment, education and training data from several sources supports the position that young people are working primarily in part-time or casual employment, continuing their education, and undertaking training in greater numbers than previously thought. 

Greg Jericho from The Guardian finds that young people are engaged in education and employment and are not deterred by high rates of unemployment.
