Sun protection, 2001
14% of teenagers get sunburnt every weekend during summer (SunSmart 2003a).
In 2001, the majority of young people aged 12–17 years had taken a sun protection measure in the previous month (85%), compared with 83% in 1995.
In both years, a higher proportion of those aged 12–14 years used sun protection measures.
In 2001, 88% of those aged 12–14 years used sun protection measures, compared with 82% of those aged 15–17 years.
