||1st Conference on Soccer for Youth Empowerment, Honduras
|'Empowering Youth Through Soccer By Providing Community, Structure, Meaning and A Superordinate Goal'.
The conference will focus on ways to create successful soccer projects for empowering youth by giving them community, providing structure, offering meaning and developing a superordinate goal as well as creating joint ventures and strategic alliances as well as developing relationships between Central American soccer projects and US soccer programs and clubs. It is designed to bring together volunteers, directors of orphanages, government social programs, pastors and lay clergy, youth ministers, soccer teams and leagues from Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, and South American countries, who have the problems of street children, gangs and poor children. Because of the economic impact of Hurricane Mitch, there are many fatherless and motherless children in the Central American countries. Many of these youth have been abandoned by parents who have illegally immigrated to the US.
The purpose of the conference is bringing together the people resources, the equipment, the products, the services and the connections needed to meet the demand of creating and supporting the growing number of homeless, neglected abused and at risk youth in the four countries.
