Youth homelessness matters day campaign

An annual nation-wide campaign aimed at bringing the issue of youth homelessness to the public arena while also providing a mechanism that allows the general public to get involved.

In 2024, the campaign will culminate in a national awareness day for youth homelessness in the middle of National Youth Week on 15 April, 2024.

On any given night, around Australia, 105,000 people don’t have a place to call home. 42% of the homelessness population is under the age of 25. Youth homelessness is not inevitable. With coordinated and targeted efforts, Yfoundations believes youth homelessness can be something of the past.

Youth Homelessness Matters Day (YHMD) has been an exciting campaign since its inception in 1990. Started by a group of social advocates who believed that too many young people were moving out of home with no where to go, the day has since grown into a national celebration of young people’s resilience. - See more at: http://www.youthhomelessnessmatters.net/yhmd/welcome-nych#sthash.PpJFdW6t.dpuf
