The IMPACT Social Enterprise National Conference will be held in Brisbane on 7–9 August. The three-day conference is open to university students and young professionals. Featuring industry leaders and creative thinkers, the conference introduces participants to ‘the knowledge and skills required for tackling social problems with business models and innovation’. Conference participants then form groups to develop and pitch an enterprise model that addresses a social issue. The winning group receives a 'start-up pack', including mentoring and support, to help make their model become a reality.
The conference is open to 175 participants, with first-round applications closing on 31 May. Visit the IMPACT Social Enterprise website for further information about the conference.
IMPACT also recently launched its in-school social enterprise workshops for high school students. The first workshop was held at Brisbane Boys College in April. These workshops ‘focus on building knowledge of the not-for-profit, business and social enterprise worlds; developing practical and useful business skills, and thinking cleverly and creatively to solve problems’.
