A consortium of organisations working in the CALD and youth sectors have produced a free training package to help those who work with refugee young people to meet the specific needs of their clients.
The Engage respectfully with refugee young people training package was developed following wide-ranging consultations with those who work with young people from refugee backgrounds as well as refugee young people themselves. It covers topics such as adolescence; the refugee experience; consultation and advocacy; and self-care.
The training package contains a comprehensive trainer’s resource guide as well as a participant’s handbook. In addition, RTOs can request an Assessment Guide from AMES Bookshop that includes fully developed assessment tasks, a validated assessment matrix and a marking guide.
