Growing up in cities

Growing Up in Cities is a global effort to help address the issues affecting urban children and youth. It is a collaborative undertaking of the MOST Programme of UNESCO and interdisciplinary teams of municipal officials, urban professionals, and child advocates around the world, working with young people themselves to create communities that are better places in which to grow up-and therefore, better places for everyone.

Public Spaces for Young People - A Guide to Creative Projects and Positive Strategies

The Guide provides brief descriptions of a wide range of public space projects which have been undertaken across Australia in recent years. The aim of the book is to provide an outline of the key elements of a broad youth-friendly public space strategy, and then to describe the basic features of various grassroots initiatives and specific community-based projects.

Youth 98 - Public Spaces Public Voices

Conference materials

This was a research and practice symposium organised by ACYS and the Youth Research Centre at the University of Melbourne. It was held at the University of Melbourne in April 1998. The symposium focused on the important policy, program and research issues around young people's views, action and initiatives within the public arena.
